Old School Mtg

Last weekend I attended a tournament at Wizard Games, a local game store in Gothenburg. Due to some unfortunate scheduling, the other big store in gothenburg had a Legacy-tournament the same day, and it might have resulted in fewer players in either tournament. Anyways, three fourths of a doozen old school gamers gathered to win glory and a crudly signed Moss Monster. First pick Moss Monster. Almost strictly better than Ironroot Treefolk. The winning deck, played by Kalle Nord. Chip Hogan/Weismann/Rick Lay-pile. Warmup between white weenie and Skull of Orm controll. The Skull of Orm deck unfortunatly lacked 6 basic swamps, and clearly had some mana problems. Black Mirror. Honka (on the left) overslept somewhere in a strange side of town and didn't make it to the first round. 700 SEK cab fare later he was at the site, and promptly won all his other duels to end up at second place after the undefeated Kalle. Turn one Juzam goes to town. Control Magic is awesome. ...

Sommaren börjar närma sig sitt slut, och det är återigen dags att vrida lite kort på Wizard-Games. Warcon 2012 report, previously posted on the Old School forum. Like with my last long posts, I didn't bother to translate this or fix the images properly. It's a little harder to edit the pictures when I only have restricted access to the blog. Hopefully this will be enjoyable anyway :) Under torsdagen innan warcon hade jag flyttat ihop med min respektive, och det var en del flyttdamm på tapeten. Turligt nog föll alla bitar på acceptabel plats i tid, så vid halv elva på lördagsmorgonen stod jag vid Marklandsgatan för att bli hämtad av Göttebilen och rulla till Varberg. Göttebilen var Max (Balderuse), Honka (Goebblins), Kalle (egget) och jag, och vi hade ingen idé eller inga planer om hur länge vi skulle stanna på konventet. Som halvgardering hade jag med mig en sovsäck, men fick på detta utstå spe om att jag var för väl förberedd. På plats på Marklandsgatan mötte jag götte-Nilsson (GaJol) som i sista stund hade valt att strunta i att vara kattvakt och istället joina...

This deck, piloted by VM 2011 winner Viktor "oldschool" Peterson, missed top4 on tiebreakers during both Warcon 2012 and the n00bcon warm-up tournament. It's a strange yet beautiful deck which surely will make splashes during the big fall tournament at BSK 2012. If you though Mirror Universe was unfair before, this deck makes it plain evil.
