Post lock-down post

197 days. That's a pretty long time without restaurants, pubs, or social gatherings of note. But now, just the other day, Oslo started to open up for social discourse. The news around here are already talking about 26th of May as a liberation day of sorts. Movement is afoot. As a small footnote in the book that is the lock-down, the closed border led to six months since my last proper #mailday. And it's not like I've stopped trading or doom-shopping cards, but rather that most all my stuff has been on the other side of the Swedish-Norwegian border. I frequently use my parents place in Sweden as shipping address rather than my home in Norway, as e.g. MKM doesn't really work outside of EU (and Norway isn't part of the EU). But I haven't been able to cross that border for close to sixteen months, and so a pretty substantial pile of random cards have been accumulated at my parents' house. This is not that mailday though. This mailday is rather all the oldschoo...

The 30 Day Photo Challenge (in one day)

I read somewhere that if you want to find success as an MtG content creator, having a reliable and continuous flow of content is alpha and omega. People consume bite-size entertainment in a constant flow, and being able to deliver that hit of gratification over time will eventually create a habit and a fanbase. Things are surely different now compared with just ten years ago. Like, WotC has a content creator program and "influencer" is a thing people say. Predictable flow has never really been a thing here. Maybe in like the 2013-2016 era when we had an update most every Thursday, but even that could be a bit sporadic. Like, October 2015 somehow had nine posts. But we also never had less than two updates in any month since we got going, so I guess we have some predictability in that. On average the blag has been updated every 8.2 days for the last ten years, in case you are counting. People who manage to do the daily, bite-sized, updates kinda impress me. I don't have eno...

It dawned on me that it was the end of April, and I'd only posted one blag update in the entire calendar month. Can't have that kind of nonchalance towards the eternal duties of the blagosphere. But Jesus, time moves strangely these days. Like, I'm pretty sure that March 2020 lasted fourteen weeks while March 2021 was ten days long. And on the note of relative time, it also occurred to me that I started playing oldschool around 14 years ago; a point in time when Alpha was less than 14 years old. Does that somehow mean that sets released in 2007 could possibly appear oldschool for the 20-somethings of today? Like, do people think that Future Sight or Lorwyn - with all its new-fangled planeswalkers - are old sets? Did some once-kids start playing around Alara block or Zendikar, and think back to Morningtide or Time Spiral Block as some golden era before-time? I mean, WotC did after all release Time Spiral Remastered recently as a "nostalgia-driven product", all wh...
