A Tribute to Åland, by Fluffy

It is my pride and pleasure to provide these scribbles from Martin "Fluffy" Lindström. His insights on the nuances of the game are, of course, masterful. I learned something here, and I'd wager you will too. Enjoy! /Mg out Hey kids! I am not Seb from Monsters of the Week (it’s a sweet podcast mostly about premodern but also some old school) but quite often when I think about talking to other people I think “Hey kids” to myself and that is certainly his fault. It’s quite annoying! No, my name is Martin Lindström but a lot of people know me as Fluffy. You often hear that you can’t give yourself a nickname, it has to come from others or it wont stick. But picking my own nickname exactly what I did. Roughly 25 years ago I sat in front of the family computer, and I had just downloaded mIRC. My goal was of course to read about Magic. Wandering without Wander – n00bcon 2024 report by Alex

It is quiet around here these days. So it is my pleasure to again offer this void to Alex Rutten to break the silence for a spell. Enjoy! /Mg out   After the last monstrosity , which almost killed the blag, I will try to keep this tournament report more comprehensive… For me, n00bcon has always been connected to my dear friend Wander. He joined me for n00bcon 9 in 2017 as a travel companion and spectator. During the pandemic that followed, we were both collecting cards for Swedish legal decks. We were dreaming of revisiting a future n00bcon as a small team of 2 players. Thus, from the get-go, n00bcon always felt like a shared project. He is also the only other ‘non-flying Dutchman’ crazy enough to get in the 17 to 24 hour train ride with me to an obscure Swedish pub. On our last journey home, we played The Deck mirrors for hours to find out what the correct number of Serra Angels was. In 2024, however, Wander skipped n00bcon # 15, so I had to travel solo. It is my extraordinary pleasure to get to share Will Magrann's notes from the last Arvika Festival. Please enjoy! /Mg Out After the Arvika Festival in 2023 I did not think I would be back. I had gotten second place, the Shark was likely a one time thing, I did not have anyone to travel with, and there are just too many good events to travel to. As the 2024 event calendar filled out I initially thought that I would be attending the Team World Cup which fell on the same weekend as Arvika, but then I talked myself out of that and had settled on not going to an event in February. Towards the end of December the FOMO started to set in as I began hearing of people’s plans for Arvika and the World Cup. In one such conversation with Danny Friedman it all clicked for me. Danny was telling me how excited he was to be getting back to Arvika and that he and Shane Semmens were planning to take a train from Oslo to Arvika and back.
